Monday Concerts

Every year in summer, the Monday Concerts at the Bach Monument take place outside St. Thomas Church. For the free of charge event, visitors can bring their own chair and enjoy live music by renowned national and international artists. If the weather is bad, the concert will take place inside St. Thomas Church. Nine concerts from Bach to Blues await your visit every Monday in July and August at 7 pm with free admission.

Formerly the largest cotton mill of continental Europe, the Spinnerei is now home to 11 galleries, exhibition halls and more than 100 artist studios. Since its decommissioning in 1992, the factory has been subject to constant change. Three times a year, all galleries and exhibition spaces open up new exhibitions for the popular "Rundgang" (gallery tour).

The new G2 Art Space opposite St. Thomas Church presents over 50 artworks from the private Hildebrand Collection. Emerging as well as renowned artists from the so-called New Leipzig School are on display, including Tilo Baumgärtel, Neo Rauch, David Schnell and Matthias Weischer.

Schumann Festival Week

175th Wedding Anniversary

The Schumann Festival Week (5-13 September 2015) is held around Clara's birthday and the wedding day of Robert and Clara Schumann, which sees the 175th anniversary in 2015. The life and work of the famous musical couple will be explored with a focus on a different family friend or acquaintance every year.

Leipzig has a concentration of authentic famous composer's homes and workplaces that is unique in the world. The aim of Leipzig's Music Trail initiative is to make this treasure visible and tangible. Leipzig Music Trail connects 23 of the most significant music sites in the city centre.
