The Karl-Heine-Straße must be the best-known street in Plagwitz, a district where many artists live. A number of cultural highlights are located around its margins, including the Lindenfels Playhouse, the Westwerk, several trendy bars and relaxed cafés. At the moment, it's probably the most dynamic district of Leipzig.
The Plagwitz district around Karl-Heine-Straße, Lützner Straße and helps preserve an unparalleled 90-hectare industrial architecture heritage area. Genuine Venetian gondolas now oar through the many canals, especially the Karl-Heine-Kanal. Numerous cafés and restaurants have opened along the banks of the waterways, and you can enjoy an excellent meal here with views of the fascinating surroundings.
From the outer end of Karl-Heine-Straße, it's only a few steps to the Spinnerei arts centre, once called "the hottest place on earth" by The Guardian.
