The Leipzig Museum of Fine Arts presents "Eugène Delacroix and Paul Delaroche - History as Sensation" (until 17 January 2016). For the first time, the two artists, who number amongst the most significant historic painters of the 19th century in France, are contrasted with one another. Their depiction of history was strongly influenced by the major social upheavals following the decades after the French Revolution.

Every year the people of Leipzig and visitors to the city flock to soak up the Christmas cheer and browse the lovingly decorated market stalls with their quality hand-crafted produce. With more than 250 twinkling stalls embedded harmoniously in the historic centre, Leipzig Christmas market is not only one of the oldest but also one of the largest Christmas markets in Germany.
Leipzig Christmas Market is open from 24 November through 23 December 2015.

New Leipzig School on display

The new G2 Art Space opposite St. Thomas Church presents over 50 artworks from the private Hildebrand Collection. Emerging as well as renowned artists from the so-called New Leipzig School are on display, including Tilo Baumgärtel, Neo Rauch, David Schnell and Matthias Weischer.

A real coup for the city of music: Andris Nelsons has been announced as the 21st Gewandhauskapellmeister in Leipzig, starting with the 2017/2018 season. He's the youngest conductor in this position of the past 150 years. He can already be experienced live in Leipzig for several concerts in 2016.
