Städtisches Kaufhaus (Neumarkt)

Short facts

The historic Messepalast is regarded worldwide as the world's first example of the newly designed trade fair buildings from the end of the 19th century.

The Städtisches Kaufhaus was built between 1893 and 1901 as part of the transition from a trade fair to samples fair. Including the former City Library with its Baroque façade, the magnificent Messepalast was erected where the glassware industry once exhibited its products over an area of 4,500 square metres.

The historic façade and the idyllic courtyard offer a fantastic environment inviting you to stop for a bite and stroll around.
