To mark the founding of Auerbachs Keller, the restaurant is celebrating a three-year anniversary, with events throughout the year. The highlight of the triennium is Easter 2025, the 500th anniversary of Auerbachs Keller.

Summer temperatures, a large park, and good music. These are the ingredients for a successful open-air concert. Gewandhausorchester invites everyone to a free concert at the end of the season in Leipzig Rosental. In the open air, visitors can Gewandhausorchester Listen to the music over two consecutive days while enjoying a relaxed picnic. This year, the focus will be on Strauss.

In 2025, the wine festival will once again invite you to taste and linger at the market. Winemakers from the various wine-growing regions of Germany, but also from Austria, Hungary and Italy, will offer their wine and sparkling wine products. A stage program with music and entertainment as well as refreshments will be provided.

As part of the chamber music series, concerts will take place in the historic homes and places of work of those composers who had a decisive influence on Leipzig's musical tradition. These include Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Johann Sebastian Bach, Edvard Grieg, Richard Wagner, and Clara and Robert Schumann.

With the peace prayer, the speech on democracy, the Leipzig Festival of Lights and other events, the first large Monday demonstration in Leipzig is commemorated every year on October 9th, which is considered the beginning of the Peaceful Revolution in the GDR.

The festival is one of the oldest and most renowned jazz festivals in Germany. Every year, the Leipzig Jazz Club presents well over 100 musicians - big names and pioneers of jazz, as well as innovative newcomers. Performances are held in the opera house, churches and numerous trendy clubs.

Every year in October, military history societies from Europe gather in Leipzig and Markkleeberg to commemorate the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig. Around 2.000 participants in historical uniforms are expected to take part, who will, among other things, create bivouacs, a battle reenactment and civilian scenes.

The European Humor and Satire Festival is unique: International artists will tickle your funny bone and provide the best entertainment with their excellent humor and biting satire. The festival offers a mix of political satire, cabaret, music and sophisticated comedy.

DOK Leipzig is one of the leading international festivals for artistic documentary and animated film. Given its tradition as a "window to the world", it attracts thousands of visitors as well as filmmakers, producers, distributors and festival organizers to the Saxon metropolis every year.

The festival shows around 12 dance and theater pieces from and about Europe and its global connections. The focus of the program is on current theater and innovative dance as well as the latest performative forms of representation that are intended to challenge on a content and formal level. The main focus is on in-house and co-productions as well as German premieres and world premieres.

Hardly any other composer is as alive in Leipzig's contemporary culture as Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy: As Gewandhaus Kapellmeister, he shaped the repertoire and the sound of the orchestra. The festival takes place every year on the anniversary of his death on November 4th and offers symphony concerts, chamber music and discussion formats.

It shows Leipzig's musical heritage in its European connections: composers and musicians who lived, studied and worked in Leipzig and influenced European musical life through their work are placed in the centre and illuminated and reinterpreted in combination with other art forms.

Its tradition dates back to 1458. The approximately 300 stalls invite visitors to linger in six market areas. The range of goods is accompanied by concerts by the THOMANERCHOR LEIPZIG (St. Thomas Choir of Leipzig), Santa's office hours, and a festive program of activities.

On the occasion of the 225th birthday and 175th anniversary of Albert Lortzing's death, the LORTZING 26 festival is taking place in Leipzig. In addition to Lortzing's well-known operas, lesser-known works by the former Leipzig resident are also presented, making it possible to approach Lortzing's life and work from other perspectives.
