Architectural city map of Leipzig

Leipzig has a full selection of buildings from the period between 1871 and 1918 like no other city in Germany. This was reason enough for the Kulturstiftung Leipzig, Passage-Verlag and Leipzig Tourismus und Marketing GmbH to develop the architectural city map "Historismus und Jugendstil – Leipziger Architektur 1871 bis 1918" (Historicism and Art Nouveau – Leipzig Architecture 1871 to 1918) and at the same time to close a gap in the portfolio of Leipzig city maps.

The map depicts the most beautiful buildings and monuments from this period. It includes a total of 82 houses and building complexes. However, these are only few of the Leipzig buildings from this era. Of the approximately 15,000 cultural monuments in Leipzig, as many as 10,000 are from the "Gründerzeit", or Wilhelminian, period. Particularly impressive are the arcades and trade fair palaces in the city centre such as Specks Hof, the Städtisches Kaufhaus or the oldest preserved arcade in Germany, the Mädler Passage (arcade).

Also very much worth a visit are the houses in the style of historicism, which characterise large parts of the city area, the industrial buildings in Plagwitz and the publishing buildings east of the city centre.

The architectural city map is available for €4.95 in bookshops and in the Tourist Information Office (Katharinenstrasse 8).
