The architectural city map "Historism and Art Nouveau - Leipzig Architecture 1871 - 1918" closes a gap in the Leipzig city maps.

Nowadays, Leipzig possesses a closed stock of buildings from the years between 1871 and 1918, more than any other city in Germany. Reason enough for the Leipzig Cultural Foundation, Passage-Verlag and Leipzig Tourismus und Marketing GmbH to publish the architectural city map "Historism and Art Nouveau - Leipzig Architecture 1871 - 1918".

The map depicts the most beautiful buildings and monuments from the periods of Historicism and Art Nouveau. A total of 82 houses and building ensembles were included in the architectural city map. However, this is only a small part of Leipzig's current collection: of the 15,000 cultural monuments in Leipzig, 10,000 are from the so-called Wilhelminian period. Particularly impressive are the passages and trade fair palaces in the city centre such as Specks Hof, the Städtisches Kaufhaus or the oldest preserved passage in Germany, the Mädlerpassage.

At least as worth seeing are the houses in the style of historicism, which characterise large parts of the city area, the industrial buildings in Plagwitz and the publishing buildings east of the city centre.
