223 hectares of water surface, around 8,5 kilometers of path around the entire lake and a whole 7 kilometers of shoreline - if that isn't convincing enough, we don't know what will be. In order to fulfill a certain educational mission here, here is a brief overview of the creation of the "Schladis". From 1989 to 1991, the community of Schladitz was cleared and demolished to make way for coal mining. However, sales of brown coal products deteriorated so much after 1990 that Schladitz was ultimately unaffected by mining. Flooded in 1998, the lake has been used as a bathing lake and for water sports action used. And once again learned something new!
Only 14 kilometres separate Leipzig and the Schladi, which lies between Rackwitz and Schkeuditz Now it's time to overcome this. We have prepared the economy version (for your energy, of course) and the fit alternative:
Within the Arriving by public transport you are spoiled for choice – depending on whether you prefer to visit Rackwitz or Zschortau and where on the lake you would like to arrive. Leipzig Central Station you get into the S2 Towards Bitterfeld and enjoy the journey to RackwitzOnce you have arrived there, you have to turn off the energy saving mode again, because there is a short walk of about 3,5 km over dirt roads awaits you.
Alternatively, continue to Zschortau and climbs into the Bus line 207 Direction Wolteritz – Schkeuditz and drive another 5 minutes until WolteritzFrom here it is only about 1 kilometer to walk.
With the Cars From Leipzig you can get to the lake almost as quickly – parking spaces close to the water included.
What is left for the sporty version? Exactly, the good old bikeAll sports enthusiasts can easily pedal their way to Schladi.
