A trip to Leipzig **without souvenir photos**? Unimaginable! There are countless beautiful places and buildings in Leipzig. To capture the **variety** of the beautiful city, we have put together the **10 best photo spots in Leipzig** away from the well-known sights.

1\. colored yarn plants

The **Colored Yarn Works** in **West Leipzig** are located in the district of **Plagwitz**. Once used as the **Sächsische Wollgarnfabrik** with over two thousand employees, they are now **the largest industrial monument of the Gründerzeit** era. Since their renovation at the beginning of the 20th century, they have provided space for **48 residential units**. Only the **clinker brick façade** with its **red brick architecture** and decorative **bright natural stone structures** is a reminder of the building's original use and is therefore a popular subject for (amateur) photographers. The **bridge on the second floor**, which connects the complexes on both sides of the Weiße Elster, is also a popular photo motif.

2nd Könneritz Bridge

Built in 1869, the **Könneritzbrücke** was originally a wooden bridge to connect the then industrially growing **district of Plagwitz with Schleußig.** In 1899, however, the wooden frame over the **White Elster** was replaced by the still existing **iron construction** . Today, the bridge **is one of the city's technical monuments** and impresses photographers above all with its **truss girder and arch construction** with the **riveted iron girders**. Accordingly, it is rightly one of the 10 best photo spots in Leipzig.

The bridge is a real eye-catcher, especially for photo shoots. From there, you also have a beautiful view of the **King Albert Bridge**, which features a mix of **historicism** and **modernism** architectural styles. The **triple-arch bridge** with **clinker stone** was built under the direction of **Dr. Karl Heine** in 1874 and renovated by the city in 2010. To this day, the bridge is a popular photo motif in the west of Leipzig.

4\. bridges in Johannapark

The **Johannapark** in the **western center of Leipzig** once belonged to the Leipzig banker **Willhelm Seyfferth.** He had the park laid out in the **English style** according to designs by Lennée and named it after his eldest daughter Johanna, who died at an early age. After his death, Seyffert left the park to the city of Leipzig on the condition that the green space would always remain as it was built.

In the middle of Johannapark, **two bridges** adorn the landscape and connect a **small island** in the middle of the lake with the surrounding mainland. The bridges are a special photo motif for **weddings**, for example. Our tip: From the **shore** of the lake with **view of the bridges** you get an incomparable view of the **City Tower** and the **New Town Hall**.

5th Street of October 18

The **Street of October 18** received its name in memory of the victory day of the Allies over Napoleon in the **Battle of Nations** of 1813. It connects the **Bayerischer Platz** and the **Völkerschlachtdenkmal** and is a continuation of Windmühlenstraße. Up to the **small bend**, which is approximately at the level of **Semmelweißstraße** you have a perfect **view of the New Town Hall** in a north-westerly direction. After the bend, the **Völkerschlachtdenkmal** can be easily recognized and photographed from the sidewalk. You get a unique view of these two Leipzig sights in one go, so to speak, which makes Straße des 18. Oktober one of the best photo spots in Leipzig twice over.

6\. palm garden weir

The **Palmengartenwehr** is also known as **Oberes Elsterwehr** and is located in the **west of Leipzig**. At the **Palmengarten**, the **southern end** of the Elster basin, you can find the **weir bridge** of the Palmengarten weir. At this point, the water from the **Old Elster**, the **Elster floodbed** and the **Elster** merges and is channelled under the weir bridge into the **Elster basin** .

The weir is a **technical monument** and **symmetrically constructed**. The bridge is encased in **granite stone** and the three **cottages** on it are covered with **red hip roofs** . Due to its visual features, the Palmgartenwehr is also a popular photo motif for those interested in architecture. You can experience a particularly beautiful atmosphere at the Palm Garden Weir when **dusk** begins and the weir bridge is illuminated by the lanterns.

7\. racecourse Scheibenholz

Opened in September 1867 has a size of **30 hectares** and is located in the **Leipzig** **Südvorstadt** district. There has been a wooden **stand** on the site since 1907, which was built under the direction of **architect Otto Paul Burghardt** . It offers space for up to 900 guests and underwent a **renovation** between 2010 and 2012. The typical **double towers** of the building were retained, which are still a **real eye-catcher** at the racecourse today. The **metal lettering**, which has taken on a real **"vintage look"** due to the weather conditions, is also a great photo motif. All in all, you will be impressed by the historic architecture and spaciousness of the grounds and are sure to take a nice photo or two.

But watch out! The racecourse grounds are **not** always visible, as in our photos. However, there are regular (actually also real race days!) where you can see the location up close.

8\. city tunnel

The **City Tunnel** connects the **north and south** of the city with **S-Bahn tracks** and runs right through **Leipzig city center**. With a length of 3,187 meters, it has **several stations**, which have been individually designed.

For example, the **stop at Bayerischer Bahnhof** is a feast for the eyes for all architecture lovers. The **140 meter** long station was built in **modern style** and has **coloured struts** at the northern entrance, which is located at Bayerischer Bahnhof, which connect the walls along the stairs and escalators. Whether you want to photograph this architectural feature alone or take the opportunity to take the perfect and **urban Instagram picture** - the City Tunnel station at Bayerischer Bahnhof is a real eye-catcher.

The underground S-Bahn station at **Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz** also impresses with its **transparent design**. It also has a length of **140 meters** and a **light-flooded hall**, so you won't have the feeling of being in a subway station. Here, too, you are of course free to decide how you want to stage this great Leipzig photo spot.

The **Arena** is located directly next to the Leipzig in the **Südvorstadt district.** Oversized **360° panoramic images** have been exhibited there since 2003. During your visit, it is particularly worth taking a look upwards, as the arena, built in the**industrial style** today **only has a roof construction** without a cover. As a result, the various events can be enjoyed in the open air, but completely protected from the wind.

The**24-metre-high** building has a**diameter of 47 meters** and can accommodate up to **500 people**. The arena is therefore the perfect place to experience Leipzig **industrial culture** up close or one of the **open-air events in summer** .
