============================================================================

36 degrees, no fan - sometimes life seems pretty tough, doesn't it? What could be more perfect than hearing the **soft sound of the waves**, feeling the warm **sand** under your feet and really **cooling down**? Yes, you're right, we're still in Leipzig and yes, the sea is still not just around the corner - but the is in no way inferior and even has a few **sights** in store for you on top.

Key facts at a glance

**223 hectares of water**, around 8.5 kilometers of path around the entire lake and a whole 7 kilometers of shoreline - if that doesn't convince you, we don't know what does. In order to fulfill a certain educational mission, here is a brief overview of the development of the "Schladi". From 1989 to 1991, the community of Schladitz was cleared and demolished in favor of coal mining. However, sales of lignite products deteriorated so badly after 1990 that Schladitz ultimately remained untouched by mining. Flooded in 1998, the lake has been used as a **bathing lake** and for **water sports action** since 2003.

Only a mere 14 kilometers separate Leipzig and the Schladi, which lies between and . Now it's time to overcome them. We have prepared the economy version (for your energy, of course) and the fit alternative:

You re spoilt for choice when it comes to **traveling by public transport** - depending on whether you d rather pay a little visit to Rackwitz or Zschortau and where you d like to arrive at the lake. From , take the **S2** in the direction of Bitterfeld and enjoy the journey to **Rackwitz**. Once there, you ll have to switch off the energy-saving mode again, because a **small walk** of around 3.5 km along field paths awaits you.

Alternatively, you ll continue to **Zschortau** and get on the **bus line 207** in the direction of Wolteritz - Schkeuditz and travel another 5 minutes to **Wolteritz**. From here, it's only about a 1-kilometre hike.

With the **car** you can get directly to the lake from Leipzig almost as quickly - parking spaces near the water included.

What's left for the sporty version? Exactly, the good old **wire bike**. All sporty types can also pedal their way to the Schladi.

Bathing - beach feeling on your doorstep

All this sport is all well and good, but if you prefer to just lie there, relax, sweat as little as possible and refresh yourself from time to time, then head for the **cool water**! In **Schladitzer Bucht**, you can visit the dreamy at the sports resort. The perfect place for the whole **family**: the little ones can expect child-friendly **shallow water areas**, while the maintenance team ensures that the beach remains clean. Unfortunately, dogs have to stay outside here. You can keep your pet on a lead in the rest of the Sport Resort area. So that your four-legged friend doesn't get sad, there are places south and north of the diving station where you can take your best four-legged friend to the water.

An absolute recommendation is, of course, the popular **Wolteritz beach** on the other side of the Schladi. Divided into three parts, every short holidaymaker will get their money's worth here: sports fans, dog lovers and friends of peace and relaxation vacation for the soul and pure summer feeling!

Try **Biedermeier**! Yes, of course, it's not 1815 anymore and the clothes back then looked anything but comfortable. But basically, we all long for a little more **peace and** **coziness** every now and then to simply throw all our stupid worries overboard, don't we? Then you should either visit a time machine or pay a visit to the on **Haynaer Ufer** (by the way: we recommend the latter).

The **cultural venue** here is anything but staid and, if you ve not found a time machine, it will at least make you feel like you ve just stepped out of one. The , the and the **stage** with a direct view of the lake are all designed with the **special flair** of times long past. Against the **idyllic backdrop** of the Schladi, which is unsurpassed in terms of perfection, you ll be able to regularly and, as the absolute highlight, the traditional .

Gastronomy - Where can I find delicious food?

If you've realized that the loud growling wasn't the sea monster Nessie on a spontaneous hike to Leipzig, but your stomach has been making these foul noises, it's **high time for a snack**! In Schladitz Bay, you can make a quick stop for ice cream or coffee at the **,** which has a **fancy ambience** and **free seating** with a direct view of the lake. If you're in a hurry, you can also get various delicacies directly from the **Bistro** at LEVANTE and enjoy them outside.

If you re just relaxing on Wolteritz beach, you ll never have to walk halfway around the lake - the offers you everything your culinary heart (or less poetically: your stomach) desires.

You've got your apron on and are flipping the sausages - or in short: you like to stand at the **barbecue** and do so with passion? Then we have good news and bad news for you. The bad news first: there is an official at Leipzig's lakes! Stop, the corners of your mouth don't have to turn downwards, because we also have good news for you: At Lake Schladitz, the ALL-on-SEA Sport Resort has specially designated right on the beach, which you can book in advance for your group and yourself.
