The Notenrad - Discover Leipzig, the Music City
The Leipzig Notenrad - by bike through the music city
The Leipzig Notenrad is a "musical" bike tour that can thrill young and old alike. A 37 km route connects remote, musically significant places with each other and guides music loving cyclists along scenic "watercourses" and green spaces in the floodplains surrounding Leipzig.
The bicycle tour starts in Leipzig's city centre and ends at the Gewandhaus. Along the way, you can marvel at the monuments and houses where famous composers spent their time, as well as the Gründerzeit district with its gardens and parks, the species-rich Auenwald floodplain forest, mansions, churches and museums.
Our tip: the Notenrad makes a fantastic addition to a larger bike tour through central Germany, such as the Saale bike route or the Elster and Pleiße bike route. This trip is not only suited to cycling enthusiasts, but also for those who want to musically discover their city by bike.
Those who want to take it easier can choose the 17.5 km route. It runs along the Gohliser Palace, the St. Thomas Church, the Kleinzschocher feudal estate and the Schiller House.
