The Kohlrabizirkus - formerly Großmarkthalle - can host many different kinds of events because of its extraordinary architecture. The enormous domed buildings with a total usable area of 30,000 sqm are today mainly used for short-term events. As a creative location in the dynamic urban district of the south of Leipzig and due to its proximity to Bio City Leipzig and Media City Leipzig, the Kohlrabizirkus is, seen from a long-term perspective, as a suitable starting point for fast-growing companies.

BAUHAUS Architecture: The Großmarkthalle was built between 1928 and 1930 and set a world record. The two solid roof domes are considered a masterpiece of reinforced concrete construction. The concept was developed by Hubert Ritter, Leipzig City Planning Councillor. The domes themselves were erected by engineer Franz Dischinger from the construction company Dyckerhoff & Widmann in 1928/29.

The market hall was designed as a vegetable market for the city of Leipzig. Hence the name Kohlrabizirkus. The site was chosen for its proximity to the rail line, which ensured a fast and cost-effective delivery route.

The octagonal domes of the internationally-acclaimed Großmarkthalle are positioned on 13-metre-high reinforced concrete pillars 30 metres apart. They are 29 meters high and create a round skylight. Today, the classic modernist building is used as an indoor winter paradise with Germany's largest indoor ice skating rink, for circus events, flea markets and exhibitions.
