Hiking and pilgrimages in the Leipzig Region

Walking holidays combining both the big city and the countryside

Covering an area right from the centre of the city of Leipzig out into the surrounding area, you will find one of the biggest floodplain forests in Central Europe. The region is rich in closed forest areas as well as wild and romantic river landscapes along the Mulde and Elbe rivers. A good example of this is the high-quality "Heide-Biber-Tour" walking trail in the Düben Heath nature park. But that's not all: Magnificent pine groves and extensive areas of mixed forest are typical of the nature reserve at the Dahlen Heath. Where mining dominated the landscape more than 20 years ago, a breathtaking lake landscape has now been created called the Leipzig New Lake District. Or how about walking the Luther Trail in Saxony.
