Discover the diverse bodies of water in the Leipzig Region. The catfish, carp, tench, pike and zander in the region's romantically situated lakes in forest areas, gravel pits, open-cast mining lakes and attractive rivers such as the Mulde, Elbe and Zschopau are a real treat for all anglers. Sometimes, you may even hook an eel, too. Also interesting are the vendace, which can now be fished in almost all open-cast lakes.

You can find information on the fishing areas leased and owned by the Anglerverband Leipzig e.V (Leipzig Fishing Association) with a total area of 8000 ha (31 square miles) in the free "Angelatlas Sachsen" app or on the homepage of the Leipzig Fishing Association. Terms and conditions of issue:
Permits (daily, weekly or yearly tickets) are only ever valid for one body of water. For bodies of water that are leased specifically to fishing associations, only weekly and yearly passes can be sold. The sale of daily tickets for waters that are leased purely for fishing purposes is not permitted.

Tickets for guest anglers can be purchased from almost all stores that sell fishing equipment. You can find more information on these stores on the Leipzig Fishing Association website under the following link:
MoreIn Saxony, you are only allowed to fish if you have a valid angler's licence and a permit for the waters you are fishing in. Details of the standard minimum landing sizes and bag limits for Saxony can be found in the brochure "Guideline for Fishing in Saxony" (Gewässerordnung des Landesverbandes Sächsischer Angler) and are also printed on your permit.
In Saxony, children and teenagers can hold a youth fishing licence from the age of 9. The youth licence can only be used for fishing when accompanied by an adult with a fishing licence unless the holder has been a member of an angler's association for at least one year. Holders of a youth licence also require a valid permit.
Persons whose main place of residence is outside the area of application of German Basic Law may be issued a guest fishing licence without taking a fishing test. This regulation is intended to enable anglers from outside Germany to fish here.
