Shopping in Leipzig's unique network of arcades

Even if the summer is too hot and the autumn too wet, if there is slushy snow in winter or spring hasn't really sprung, Leipzig has the solution! At any time of the year, you can step into the Leipzig arcades for a wonderful shopping experience. The numerous typical Leipzig arcades and courtyard pathways are not only a paradise for shoppers, promenades and architectural treasures.

There are many streets in the old town area with passageways or archways to explore that will lead you into the labyrinth of paths

In addition to the exclusive shopping atmosphere and designer shops, you will also find bookshops, small specialty shops, restaurants, cafes, cabaret and theatre stages and cinemas.

Leipzig, a hub for art and culture

A detour away from the central shopping streets in Leipzig is also worthwhile.

Anyone who's into unique or second-hand items will love the Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse – not only in terms of shopping but also for its restaurants and pubs. After every store, you will always find the perfect bar or cafe to take a break from shopping.

You can find quirky and trendy shopping opportunities along Karl-Heine-Strasse in Plagwitz. It's especially worth taking a look at the events calendar here, as once a year the street becomes a promenade for the "Boulevard Heine" event. At the BoHei & Tamtam street festival, you will only find handmade and unique products. Here, artists, artisans, craftsmen, designers and other creative people sell their products.
