Organs in the Leipzig Region

Organ Music and Organ Building in Germany was UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage In Saxony alone there are approximately 2.500 organs, including over 150 historical instruments. The craftsmanship and musical diversity of the Organs in the Leipzig Region inspires numerous music lovers from home and abroad every year. Famous organ builders like for example Silbermann, Hildebrandt, Kreutzbach and Ladegast left behind wonderful treasures that even Johann Sebastian Bach "recognized and praised as being able and consistent." Many of these instruments have undergone extensive restoration and reconstruction in recent decades. Sound worlds from four centuries and thus a special organ treasure remain.

Concert series in Bad Lausick | Silbermann-Trampeli organ

The fortified church, which dates back to the 13th century, is home to one of Saxony's oldest organs. Built in 1671 by Gottfried Richter from Döbeln, it was reconstructed in 2006 by the Wegschneider organ workshop from Dresden. This instrument can be used to authentically reproduce organ works from the Renaissance and early Baroque periods.

The over 300-year-old Silbermann-Trampeli organ has been playing in the St. Kilian church in Bad Lausick, the oldest surviving town church in Saxony, since 1957. You can experience this wonderful instrument through varied concert programs with important organists and artists.

Night of Open Village Churches in the Leipzig Region

Since 2007 there has been the Night of Open Village Churches and since then the village churches in the Leipziger Land and Leipzig church districts have invited people to a special evening and night program in the churches every year in July.

There are programs for children and families, exhibitions, guided tours, readings, lectures, theater, cinema, culinary delights and, of course, organ music waiting for curious visitors.

Participating are village churches in Albrechtshain, Beucha (Brandis), Beucha (Bad Lausick), Großpösna, Mutzschen and Hohnstädt (Grimma).
