The Leipzig Volksbank Women's Run has been taking place in Leipzig since 2010, following in the tradition of the women's running movement and building on its demands. In addition to the sporting and health aspects, the motto of the Leipzig Women's Run is "Women run for women": each year, part of the proceeds from the runners' entry fees goes to the 1st autonomous women's shelter of the Women for Women eV Leipzig association, thereby supporting women who want to escape from violent relationships and need the help and support of the women's shelter.
