The German healthcare system is undergoing a critical phase of change as a result of the current hospital reform. This is leading to major challenges for hospitals and practices, particularly in the field of vascular medicine, where interdisciplinary care for critically ill patients, among others, plays a key role. The same applies to the care of patients with large wounds in both outpatient and inpatient settings. All of this is compounded by the long-standing shortage of skilled medical and nursing staff.
The 2025 Annual Conference will be organized according to these new conditions. The current state of knowledge in vascular medicine will be presented as concisely and effectively as possible, while simultaneously offering a possible outlook for the future—from both a technical and a health economic perspective.
New developments and innovations in prevention, pharmacotherapy, endovascular or hybrid treatment of vascular diseases, and rehabilitation will also be presented and critically discussed. The need for networking between vascular medicine and other disciplines, such as vascular surgery, radiology, cardiology, and diabetology, will be emphasized through numerous interdisciplinary sessions. Interprofessional sessions with assistants and nursing staff are also planned.
