Jana Karin Adam at »Staircase at Böttichers«

"You don't know me, but you've heard a lot about me," was how the most successful film composer of the UFA era liked to introduce himself. Besides countless film hits such as "Ein Freund, ein guter Freund" (A Friend, a Good Friend), "Liebling, mein Herz lässt dich grüßen" (Darling, My Heart Sends You Greetings), and "Das gibt's nur einmal, das kommt nicht wieder" (That Only Happens Once, That Won't Come Again), Werner Richard Heymann also composed chansons for "Die wilde Bühne" (The Wild Stage) in Berlin during the 1920s. However, his film scores, with which he wrote a small chapter of Potsdam's musical history, achieved his greatest fame. Performers included Lilian Harvey, Willy Fritsch, Heinz Rühmann, Hans Albers, Hildegard Knef, and the Comedian Harmonists. In Hollywood, the composer was nominated for an Oscar several times. Based on his life's journey through Berlin, Hollywood, and Munich, the singer Jana Karin Adam has created a unique portrait of the composer: entertaining, reflective, vibrant, full of witty wordplay and fast-paced rhythms.

Vocals: Jana Karin Adam (Potsdam) | Piano: Franns von Promnitz (Dresden)
