European Congress of Manual Medicine

The first European Congress on Manual Medicine 2023 in Leipzig was a great success with high-caliber symposia and practical workshops. This should become a tradition. It is planned to hold a European Congress on Manual Medicine every two years and thus promote cooperation for the field and individual development.
Manual medicine, with its diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities, is a central component of functional medicine. Function, broadly understood, begins with cellular function and extends to activities, participation and social interaction.
One-dimensional, often purely structural approaches are no longer appropriate. Patients should instead be viewed, diagnosed and treated functionally as a whole. The empowerment of patients through knowledge transfer (education), the assumption of personal responsibility and thus self-efficacy play a central role. Modern manual medicine must face these challenges.
