The new program by and with Thomas “Manni” Störel.
premiere 2025
Manni has made provisions and preserved everything he holds dear. For rainy days. Not just fruit and vegetables. Also an emergency fund and something to smoke. A preserving jar would be nice for preserving his dream figure. Or one to prevent election promises from going moldy prematurely. It also wouldn't hurt to preserve his convictions now that things are getting serious. Manni tackles everyday life and politics with heart and soul. Cheeky cheerfulness, as always, musically inspired. Preserved good humor so it doesn't spoil.
Text/Music: Thomas Störel
During the fall of the Berlin Wall, Thomas Störel co-founded the cabaret "SanftWut" and has since participated in numerous "SanftWut" productions as an actor, musician, composer, and lyricist. In his role as "Manni," with his distinctive appearance, cabaret artist Thomas Störel became known in Leipzig and beyond.
How the fictional character "Manni" came about: One day, Thomas was rummaging through the props in the dressing room for something suitable for the show "And the Woman Is Always Upset." Thomas found pink sweatpants, put them on, and, for fun, pulled them up to his ears. That was it, the gesture that became a cult classic. He added his hairstyle and his unmistakable moustache that same day. All of this resulted in a mixture of a stern, yet extremely funny-looking man. A macho whose demeanor would win him over in the years to come.
