3.000 years of art history under one roof
Spanning a total of 3.500 square meters, the permanent exhibition of the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts showcases arts and crafts and design from antiquity to the present day. The focus is on the basic human need for clothing, jewelry, and the design of one's environment, a need that permeates every century.
The extensive permanent exhibition consists of three tours:

Antiquity to Historicism: Art and Crafts from Antiquity to 1900
2.000 objects from European art and cultural history in 30 rooms (Antiquity, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque/Rococo, Classicism, Biedermeier, Historicism)

Asian Art: Influences of East Asian and Islamic Art on Europe
400 exhibits in three rooms with a focus on lacquer art and tea ceremony vessels

Art Nouveau to the present: Art and design from the turn of the century to the immediate present
2.000 objects on over 1 m² with a focus on international Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Functionalism (Bauhaus) and Pop
