When considering spaces of play, one thing becomes apparent: they are by no means a given. This applies to spaces in which people can develop and connect with the world. And also to spaces that enable self-determined action. Spaces of play are precious; they often have to be fought for and defended. Inspired by works from the GfZK collection and invited artists, the exhibition explores the potential of such spaces, their beauty, and also the contradictions inherent in them. It brings together various forms of expression and artistic media, including performance, conceptual art, installation, drawing, video, and photography. In their works, the artists explore social and institutional structures. They question privileges, shift viewpoints, and disrupt existing orders.
