In 1968, the Iron Curtain opened a crack: At the annual Intervision music festival in Karlovy Vary, Czechoslovakia, stars from Eastern and Western Europe shared the stage for the first time, just weeks before the invasion of Soviet tanks brought an end to the cultural policies of the Prague Spring. It wasn't until after the fall of the Berlin Wall that another pan-European music competition took place: This time, Western European broadcasters hosted the Eurovision Song Contest. Intervision faded into obscurity.

Completely unjustified, according to the performance group BOYS* IN SYNC, which is organizing its very own music competition: the InterEuroVision. In doing so, they also look behind the scenes of the 1968 Intervision: How did the singers from different countries meet? What symbolic significance does the competition hold for us today? And why do we know so little about this historical event? Together, BOYS* IN SYNC compare the show segments from Intervision and Eurovision of 1968, perform them in their native languages, compete against each other, and ultimately come together.
