New year, new luck? While others are still chasing after their New Year's resolutions, we're starting right off with a musical exclamation mark: The Marina Schlagintweit Ensemble opens our Jazzclub Live series 2026. And they're doing it the way a year should begin – with vision, daring, and a real bang!
Anyone who experienced their concert at the 48th Leipzig Jazz Days in 2024 knows: This nine-member ensemble doesn't just think big, it sounds big too. Schlagintweit, a pianist and composer, defies easy categorization. New music, classical, jazz – everything flows together, blends, clashes, and reinvents itself. Sometimes loud, sometimes soft, sometimes acoustic, sometimes electronic. And always with the intention of viewing boundaries as friendly suggestions rather than serious obstacles.
