Serenade | Duo 9
Birthday concert for the 302nd birthday of Christiane Regine Hetzer
"Christiane Regine, the best wife."
I want to love you as long as I live.
I would like to pass away with you.
Johann Gottlob Böhme wrote this lovingly about his wife Christiane Regine.
On the occasion of her 302nd birthday, we would like to remember the lady of the house of Gohlis Palace, who was born in Gohlis on March 26, 1724, as the granddaughter of the landowner and wine merchant Johann Martin Hemm. We owe it to her and her marriage to Johann Caspar Richter that Gohlis Palace was built and can still delight all visitors today.
Through the inheritance of two farms and the acquisition of further land, the couple had a summer palace built in the village of Gohlis in 1755/1756. However, the interior work could not be completed due to the Seven Years' War and the death of Johann Caspar Richter in 1770. After a year of mourning, Christiane Regine married Court Councilor Johann Gottlob Böhme, Professor of History at the University of Leipzig, who completed the building and to whom we also owe the beautiful design of the Oeser Hall by Adam Friedrich Oeser.
Regina's six children from previous marriages had already died in childhood, which is why the Böhme couple established four foundations in their will in 1776, from which the "Böhme Foundation" and the "Vesper Service Foundation for Gohlis" emerged.
With a birthday concert, we say, Happy Birthday dear Christiane and hope you will celebrate with us.
