The year of the museum's 150th anniversary cannot pass without a symbolic bow to the donors who have enriched and continued the collections of the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts with their gifts. In the last five years alone, almost 6.000 objects in the areas of arts and crafts and design, as well as around 10.000 works in the areas of graphic arts, book art, and photography, have been inventoried as donations. Only a small portion of these found space in the three-part permanent exhibition. Even the special exhibition "DANKE. MERCI. GRAZIE. HARTELIJK DANK." in the museum's Pillar Hall can only present a modest selection from the wealth of donations. It reflects the range from historical to contemporary art, including Asian works, and at the same time makes clear that the majority of the new acquisitions date from around 1950 onwards.
