The “Sounds of Hope” orchestra was founded in 2021 and played under the umbrella of the Peaceful Revolution Foundation until 2023. With around 30 musicians from a wide range of
Cultures, it is a unique project that brings together musical traditions from all over the world and connects people through the universal language of music. Since 2024, the orchestra has been performing under the umbrella of the Transcultural Music Forum, which was founded by Tilmann Löser and Ali Pirabi.
What is special about the "Sounds of Hope" orchestra is the diversity of the musicians, who have roots in Syria, Iran, Italy, Algeria, Ukraine, Spain, the Czech Republic, Chile, Brazil, Guinea, China and Germany, among others. This cultural and musical diversity forms the basis for creative collaboration that builds bridges between cultures and opens up new musical paths.
Our line-up combines European instruments such as violin, clarinet and piano with non-European instruments such as oud, baglama, santur and tar. Under the artistic direction of Ali Pirabi, compositions are created that merge Persian and Arabic quarter tones with Latin American rhythms and other influences - an incomparable sound that reflects the diversity of Leipzig and far beyond.
