Conducted by: Peter Sommerer | Organ: Kaoru Oyamada

On Repentance Day, Wurzen Cathedral is transformed into a place of extraordinary sonic splendor. Visitors can expect a rare musical experience: a symphonic wind orchestra meets the imposing organ—two musical heavyweights that together fill the space. Under the title "Winds & Pipes," the Saxon Wind Philharmonic, under the direction of Chief Conductor Peter Sommerer and Kaoru Oyamada, Cantor of Wurzen Cathedral, will present an impressive concert program.

The audience can look forward to a journey through the soundscapes of large spaces and ethereal music. The orchestra performs works from the Renaissance to the modern era – all inspired by sacred music. In compositions by Gabrieli, Guilmant, Bach, and Peeters, the organ and wind instruments merge into a powerful yet transparent body of sound, guaranteeing a unique listening experience.
