FOLK MEETING / CIRCLE SINGING WORKSHOP

Do you want to make music – completely without sheet music and in a relaxed atmosphere?

From February onwards, there will be two new music groups to join in at the train station: the “FolkTreff” for acoustic melody and harmony instruments, and the “Kreisgesang” for making music with voice and body, without instruments.

In both groups, a variety of traditional pieces from around the world are learned and arranged by ear. Whether beginner or advanced, young or old, everyone is welcome to join.

These groups are for everyone who
– A desire to learn and make music together without sheet music.
– have always wanted to make music freely and with enjoyment.
– want to improve their playing or singing with ease.
– perhaps even want to join the station orchestra sometime.

When exactly?

The folk music gathering takes place every second Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, starting February 5th. The next dates are therefore February 19th, March 5th, and March 19th.

The circle singing takes place every second Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, starting February 12th. The next dates are therefore February 26th, March 12th, and March 26th.

Can I join at any time?

Yes, the website will have an archive with sheet music and recordings of all the pieces and songs we've learned together. If you've missed or forgotten something, you can look it up here and prepare. Both formats are "quasi-constantly progressive": We briefly review pieces from previous weeks and continually introduce new ones. Ultimately, we want to have a large repertoire that we can play or sing together.

Note regarding the participation fee

The Leisnig Folk Meeting is made possible through cultural funding. To ensure the long-term sustainability and development of this event, you have the opportunity to contribute voluntarily. It is important to us that no one is excluded for financial reasons. We trust your self-assessment. The suggested amount is €15 per event.
