International Saxon Singers' Academy
The International Saxon Singers' Academy Torgau This is aimed at vocal students from German and international universities as well as young professional singers. It takes place in the historic setting of the Hartenfels Castle Participants explore German song, oratorio and opera from its beginnings to contemporary music.
The academy draws on Torgau's long musical tradition: Martin Luther and Johann Walter worked here, and in 1627 Heinrich Schützen's "Dafne," the first German opera, premiered at Hartenfels Castle. Under the guidance of renowned instructors, rehearsals and performances take place daily, accompanied by concerts at various locations in the old town.
The academy is organized by the foundation of the same name in close cooperation with the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy”.
