Guided tour through the current temporary exhibition

Not only has society changed rapidly in the 80 years since the end of the Second World War – our gardens have also transformed: from the post-war vegetable garden to the elegant garden at the detached house, and on to new forms of gardening such as urban gardening, which aims to make our cities greener today. This special tour for parents with babies through the temporary exhibition "Over the Fence – Gardens and People" explores the development and social functions of allotments, home gardens, and community gardens in Germany.

The tour is tailored to the needs of parents with babies. It lasts a compact 45 minutes; afterwards, there is time for discussion and questions for the museum guide. A room for breastfeeding, diaper changing, and soothing is available. As there is limited space for strollers in the exhibition, we recommend using a baby carrier.

The guided tour is part of the new parental leave program offered by the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum Leipzig (Leipzig Forum of Contemporary History), which invites parents with babies to explore chapters of the permanent exhibition and the current temporary exhibition on several dates throughout the year. Further dates for 2026 are:

Tuesday, August 25, 2026, 11:00 a.m.

Wednesday, November 11, 2026, 14.00 p.m
