WAGNER: INSPIRATION and SIDE EFFECTS at the C. Bechstein Centrum Leipzig
The WIN team of the HMT Leipzig, led by Prof. Ansi Verwey, has come up with something special for their performances at the C. Bechstein Centrum Leipzig:
Each program will be based on two well-known operas. Naturally, other composers will be heard in addition to the themes.
Only with us: 3 tenors in every concert!
So that you can experience the students' development first hand, the soprano, SAGA WARGBANER, and the tenor, TARAS SEMENOV, will participate in all 3 concerts.
The concerts will remain in a workshop format, meaning that the audience will occasionally participate voluntarily in performing and learning unfinished repertoire.
WHY WIN?
With the battle cry “WAGNER: INSPIRATION & SIDE EFFECTS”, workshop concerts by HMT students and guests have been taking place since May 2023 under the direction of Prof. Ansi Verwey.
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE CONCERTS? / WORTH KNOWING
WIN is conceived as "music making under real conditions," that is, in front of a "real audience," for students at the University of Music and Theatre under Prof. Ansi Verwey, who also moderates the evenings. The concerts take participants and audiences on a romantic, evocative, and often humorous journey through the music of Wagner, composers who inspired him, and those who were inspired by him. Because it's a workshop format, we offer not only fully polished repertoire, but also music in the preparatory phase. To ensure the series grows, we hope to have a cross-genre team of musicians, actors, dancers, painters, etc. The goal is for audiences and students to experience something new and surprising at every concert.
WIN – What is the dog doing under the wing?
This isn't just any dog, but the Chihuahua Dr. Flaffner, the Wolfling. He is the patron of the WIN series and the go-to person for all philosophical and political questions. He is also valued as a motivator of elegance, a critic of intonation, and an authority on creating calm and concentration.
Quote from Dr. Flaffner: "Excellence can be learned from many great minds; therefore, some will be present at the concerts and inspire us."
