Cycling cinema for the 50th anniversary of Leipzig-Grünau
In cooperation with the Leipzig City-Region Landscape Conservation Association Grün e. V. and ADFC Leipzig
Participation free of charge

We cycle through Grünau with short films and music. To celebrate the district's 50th anniversary, we bring together Leipzig director Birk Poßecker and the neighborhood itself. His documentary miniseries "Grünau 50" will be screened: five cinematic glimpses into concrete, life, and memory.

In five 10-minute episodes, the series portrays different residents and initiatives from Leipzig-Grünau. Beyond common clichés and stereotypes, it focuses on personal stories, social dynamics, and everyday interactions – exploring how people live, work, and shape their neighborhoods in a large housing estate. The result is a multifaceted picture that addresses the past, present, and future of the district.

The tour starts at Plagwitz public train station (Limburger Straße/Röckenstraße in 04229 Leipzig), weather permitting (partly cloudy), lasts approximately 3 hours, and is 15 kilometers long. Please bring your own bike; drinks are welcome. Participation is at your own risk. The organizers accept no liability for damages.

Birk Poßecker is a filmmaker and photographer from Leipzig. He has been working freelance since 2011 as a documentary filmmaker, video producer, and photographer. His documentary "Hütten sind für alle da" (Cabins are for everyone) portrayed Leipzig's east side; with his new film, he now turns his attention to Grünau.
