Poets:post 2026
Esther Dischereit, the featured poet of the Ringelnatz Summer 2026, and the emerging poet she selected, Abdalrahman Alqalaq, will read from their works. In conversation with Jörg Schieke (MDR), they will discuss their own work and the oeuvre of Joachim Ringelnatz.
Esther Dischereit is a German-Jewish writer, born in 1952 in Heppenheim, who is considered an important voice of the second generation after the Shoah. She writes poetry, prose, essays, radio plays, and theater texts, and frequently addresses Jewish identity, the culture of remembrance, and social issues. She has also taught, among other things, as a professor at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
Abdalrahman Alqalaq is a Palestinian-Syrian writer, poet, and performer, born in 1997 in the Yarmouk refugee camp near Damascus. He currently lives in Germany and studies cultural studies and aesthetic practice in Hildesheim. His texts often deal with war, flight, exile, and identity. His first book of Arabic poetry was published in 2022, and his first German-language book, "Übergangsritus" (Rite of Transition), in 2024.
