The Dübener Heide Nature Park invites you to numerous excursion destinations long hikes The nature park was founded in 1992. The approximately 75.000 hectares large area extends into the river landscapes of Mulde and Elbe over the two federal states of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt and is considered largest contiguous mixed forest area in Central Germany.

The Dahlener Heide and the Wermsdorf Forest are two of the most impressive landscape protection areas Saxony. The diversity of the Leipzig region is perfectly rounded off by the wild and romantic river landscapes on the Mulde and Zschopau as well as the modern lake landscape at the gates of the city of Leipzig. 

To the Mulde cities like Grimma, there are a variety of hiking opportunities that will delight nature lovers and those seeking relaxation alike. The extensive floodplain forest area Leipzig is one of the largest floodplain forest areas in Central Europe and is waiting to be explored. Even further south, in the floodplains of the nature reserve "Pfarrholz" near Groitzsch, for example, along the Ulrike-von-Levetzow hiking trail. The numerous lake circuits in Leipzig's New Lake District invite you to take long walks. Pilgrimages in the footsteps of the Reformation

The Lutherweg Sachsen is a 550-kilometer-long circular hiking trail, which passes through the historical sites of Martin Luther in Saxony. 

The trail is marked in both directions and offers 31 stations that can serve as starting or ending points. The route is in 27 stages and leads through a diverse landscape, past churches, castles and other historical sitesInformation boards along the path provide information about the history of the Reformation and the significance of the Reformation for Protestant church architecture. The Luther Trail is not only a spiritual path, but also a testimony to Saxony's rich history as the heartland of the Reformation.
