The Zwickauer Mulde rises in Schöneck in Vogtland and flows about 160 kilometers until it reaches the 120-kilometer-long Freiberger Mulde Both river branches together form the Vereinigte Mulde, which then flows into the Elbe near Dessau-Roßlau after another 120 kilometers.
