Water Sports in Leipzig and the Region

Since Saturday, April 1st, the Connewitz and Cospuden locks can be used for water hiking again. In April, the locks are open from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m., from May to September from 10 a.m. to 20 p.m. and in October from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m. During operating hours, employees of the Leipzig/Engelsdorf municipal company provide information and support to lock users directly on site.

Issue conditions:

The permits (day, week or year tickets) are only valid for one body of water. Only week and year tickets may be sold for association-contracted waters. The issuing of day tickets is not permitted for fishing leased waters.

For guest anglers, fishing licenses are sold in almost all fishing shops in the region; further information can be found on the homepage of the Leipzig Anglers' Association.

Day tickets (one body of water/one calendar day 0:00 to 24:00): 12,00 €

Weekly card (one body of water/seven consecutive calendar days 0:00 to 24:00): 30,00 €

annual passes (one body of water/one calendar year 1.1. to 31.12.): 100,00 €

You are only allowed to fish in Saxony if you have a valid fishing license and a permit for the water you want to fish in. The minimum sizes and catch limits are uniformly regulated for the whole of Saxony in the water regulations of the Saxon Anglers' Association and are also printed on the permit.

Children and young people in Saxony can get a youth fishing license from the age of 9. However, they can only fish with this license if they are accompanied by an adult fishing license holder, unless the young person has been a member of a fishing club for at least a year. Youth fishing license holders also need a valid permit.

People whose main place of residence is outside the area covered by the Basic Law can be issued a guest fishing license without having to take a fishing test. This is intended to enable foreign holidaymakers to fish.
