The famous restaurant under the roof of the Mädler Passage is celebrating a great anniversary in 2025 and wants to feast, marvel and celebrate with its guests! One more reason to visit the famous inn on your next trip to Leipzig and follow in the footsteps of Goethe and Faust. With the play "Faust," Johann Wolfgang von Goethe created a significant monument to Auerbach's Cellar. The historic inn consists of the "Großer Keller" restaurant, which serves classic, hearty Saxon cuisine; the "Mephisto Bar," which entices with cocktails and live music; and the "Historic Wine Bars," which can be visited on the "In the Footsteps of Goethe and Faust" tour or booked by groups of 20 or more for special events in the four lovingly restored guest rooms. The "Barrel Cellar Ceremony Anno Domini 1525" whisks visitors away to the "Historic Barrel Cellar," where wine was once served and which remains the heart of Auerbach's Cellar today. This tour, including a ceremony and barrel ride, has become legendary. Theater dinners from the perspective of historical figures, such as "Kein Lotterleben" (No Life of Dissoluteness) or "Die Luthers Privat" (The Luthers in Private Life), also promise entertaining hours in a special atmosphere and with excellent cuisine.
