High above the old quarry, which once produced the stones for the famous Leipzig Monument to the Battle of the Nations, is the Beucha Mountain Church. The sacristy and the church tower date back to 1284. In the 19th century the nave was added, which gave the church the shape it has today.
The quarry, which once bordered the church, was flooded after its closure and is now an idyllic lake that barely shows its mining history. Whoever relaxes in the cool waters can enjoy a unique view of the church, which stands spectacularly on its granite base.
