Climbing in the middle of the city? You can do that at the Kletterfelsen in Grünau district. The 21-metre high climbing rock was built from dismantled concrete slabs from GDR high-rise buildings and features 30 climbing routes of varying degrees of difficulty for both experienced climbers and beginners. Bouldering is also possible on the Kletterfelsen to a height of about 3 metres. Thanks to sculpted cracks and colouring, the climbing rock blends naturally into its surroundings. The German Alpine Association's Leipzig chapter also uses the climbing rock to train children, youth and adult groups.
