Covering 78 hectares, the South Cemetery is the largest cemetery grounds in Leipzig and, as one of the most beautiful park cemeteries in Germany, is perfect for long walks. The South Cemetery features spacious green areas with a great variety of plants and animals, one of the colourful highlights here are the rhododendrons that bloom in May and the protected oat meadows. At the centre of the over 130-year-old site is the monumental crematorium, whose bell tower can be seen from a distance. There are also many magnificent graves of important Leipzig personages, such as Lene Voigt or Max Klinger, to be discovered in the South Cemetery. During guided walks or guided thematic tours, you will get to know the South Cemetery from a different side.
