The Karl-Heine Canal canoe tour leads from the city harbor through "Little Venice" into the Karl-Heine Canal and is an experience for both beginners and advanced paddlers.
The tour starts in the Leipzig city harbor. We are just a few minutes' walk from the city center and our central location in the Leipzig water system makes us the perfect starting point for exploration tours. Once you arrive, you will meet your tour guide and receive a detailed introduction to paddling technique and safety aspects.
From the city harbor, we travel along the Elstermühlgraben, past the villa of the famous Baedeker publishing family and the imposing Palmgarten weir, onto the Weiße Elster. Here we follow the river through the western districts of Schleußig and Plagwitz and pass Dr. Carl Heines' villa and Mey & Edlich, Germany's oldest mail order company still in operation. The Karl-Heine Canal begins at the Buntgarnwerke in Schleußig. We paddle along this under the riverboat to the Stelzenhaus, where there is time for a breather. With a little luck, pike and rudd can be seen in the clear water of the canal. On the way back, you have the opportunity to admire all the sights from a different angle.
After your return to the city harbor, you can end your tour at the beach bar and enjoy a well-deserved drink.
