Have you always wanted to know why we are known all over the world as “coffee Saxons”? Then take a ride on our Prussian coffee sniffer from 1756. Not only Johann Sebastian Bach, but all Leipzig residents were and are fascinated by “the smell of the divine beans”. Where does coffee actually come from and what does a city siege in 1683 and a flock of sheep have in common with the “Gaffeesagg’sn”? Who is the coffee sniffer and why did the Saxon invent the only real speciality, the “Dobblschwärdorgaffee”? And “what is real Blimchn-Gaffee”?

You will find out all of this on our tour and of course you will also see the famous sights of Leipzig. Our "coffee sniffer", a genuine Saxon in Prussian service, will accompany you through the city for around 2 hours with a hearty Saxon joke and Middle High German (i.e. sägg'ssch). After around an hour we have a short toilet break and of course a bowl of coffee or tea. Perhaps you will try coffee in a historical place in the traditional 18th century style, seasoned with pepper and cardamom. Warning, only for people with a sense of humor and who enjoy "säggs'schn Läbn".

Tour: 2h city tour with approx. 20 min. break at Brauhaus Napoleon + 1 cup of coffee
