Team challenge at Lake Cospuden, where you experience the exciting times of the first anti-brown coal movement in East Germany. 30 years ago, in November '89, environmental activists joined forces to form the Ökolöwen - Umweltbund Leipzig
The eventful history of Leipzig's New Lake District began with the large-scale mining of brown coal and its processing. In this adventure, you will experience this period up until the protest movement in 1989/90. Teams of two or more people will be faced with small puzzles and tasks at various stations relating to the use of brown coal, the associated environmental pollution and the organization of resistance.
You will find out how the people of Leipzig fought back against the unchecked destruction of the landscape - and successfully. At that time, there was no thought of a new lake district. Then, as now, the challenges presented require team spirit. Will you manage to stop the Cospuden open-cast mine?
