The German Museum of Books and Writing of the German National Library offers you a wealth of information about the book as an ingenious tool for creating and storing ideas, as a product of technical processes and as a work of art. It is perfect for anyone who wants to learn more about the future of the book in contrast with new media forms.

As the oldest museum in the world and one of the most important in the field of book and media culture in terms of size and quality, it has study collections with more than one million exhibits. This includes books as well as graphic sheets, archives and documents on books. Historical paper documents, writing materials, works of art, digital media forms, tools as well as equipment and machines for writing, book and paper production are also part of the museum's repertoire.

The permanent exhibition "Signs - Books - Networks: From cuneiform to binary" as a place of experience for young and old also offers 5,000 years of media history and spans the arc from the development of writing to letterpress with movable letters to the digital network world. More specific topics on book and media culture are presented in rotating spring and autumn exhibitions as well as in varying cabinet exhibitions in the vault of the German National Library. Under the motto " Interactive Museum ", students and families are invited to actively explore the culture of books and media. Free admission to the museum
