Friderici Organ in in the Evangelical Lutheran Katharine Church in Großdeuben
It was moved from Cröbern to Großdeuben in 1972
The Italian spelling of the name Friedrich is recorded in two different versions: Friederici and Friderici. Christian Ernst Friderici (1709 - 1780) is considered the most important master of the company founded by Johannes Friderici (1653 - 1780). In 1737 Christian Ernst Friedrich Friderici obtained the civil citizenship in Gera. He is still active in the sense of the universal "instrument makers", such as Silbermann and Hildebrandt. Starting in 1740 he built stringed keyboard instruments.
He built the organ for the church in Cröbern in 1754/55. After Cröbern had to give way to the open-cast mine, the organ was moved to Großdeuben in 1972/73 by the organ building company Eule.
The present baroque hall building church was built in 1716 on the same site as a former church. In 1888, a vestry was added. It is now known as "Luther's parlour". In connection with the 1906 redesign of the church in Art Nouveau style, an annex was added to the west side. The pulpit altar and the baptismal rostrum belong to the furnishings of 1716. A shrine of a late Gothic carved altar is kept in the "Luther's parlour". It comes from the former church in Zehmen. The numerous epitaphs are from the previous building.
