Kreutzbach-Organ in the Auen Church in East Markkleeberg

The art of sound

Urban Kreutzbach (1796 - 1868), pupil of Carl Gottlob Häcker, founded his own workshop in Borna in 1828. His sons and grandson continued the business until 1903. During this period, over 200 organs were created. Urban Kreutzbach built the organ that now stands in the Auen Church, which was originally meant for the St. Martin's Church in Elstertrebnitz I/11. After the church in Elstertrebnitz was relinquished, the organ found a new home in the Auen Church after basic alterations by the Bochmann company of Kohren-Salis in 1999/2000. In the same place, Christian Enrst Friederici (1709 - 1780) and Alfred Schmeisser (1878 - 1908) had already built a new, one manual, 12 rank organ in 1749.
