Dahlen Castle Park

Castle park with the oldest tulip tree in Saxony

Dahlen Castle Park ©S.Löwe

Count von Bünau had the castle park designed in an English style, complete with a castle street, in 1908. Towards the end of the 19th century, the park was converted into a nature park, taking into account the presence of the Dahlen floodplain. Particularly in spring, the park offers a bright range of colours thanks to its thousands of blossoming anemones. In the park, to the east of the former castle (today a ruin), one of the oldest tulip trees in Saxony can be found. The view in the direction of the Dahle floodplain countryside stretching from the town hall, to the castle's terrace area and the half-moon pond is one of the special features. There are some old English oaks with trunk diameters ranging from 80-120 cm, as well as linden and chestnut trees.
