Walk along the Karl Heine Canal
Whether in the green of summer, amid colourful autumn leaves, ice-covered water or in the middle of blooming flowers - the Karl Heine Canal is a very special highlight in Leipzig's vibrant West every season. The 3.3-kilometre-long canal is man-made and is ideal for long walks alongside the bank. You can also take a leisurely boat trip along Leipzig's waterways. On your tour through the area, you will be impressed by historic villas and modern industrial lofts. Many peaceful places are perfect for a short break. In the summer, the steps near the Philippus Church are a popular place to listen to the soft splashing of the water and admire the beauty of the canal.
